The ARCHIM3DES project complies with the “do no significant harm” principle as per Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No 2020/852 since it establishes a framework to facilitate sustainable investment in the heritage sector. Firstly, to avoid the acquisition of dedicated hardware for each research group, computing cluster resources will be shared to process the huge amount of data distributed among the project. The project aims to contribute to the development and valorization of the territories, enhancing the entrepreneurial opportunities that may arise in the most diverse areas, applying the technological solutions developed by the project. Additionally, the planned approach is based on inclusive and participatory methodologies of companies, organizations, communities and people, seeking to contribute to their well-being and enabling cooperation based on principles of justice, proximity and distribution of governance and decision.
ARCHIM3DES is in line with The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030): Implementation Plan – Summary, 2021; moreover, it will contribute to the following UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:

Gender equality – ARCHIM3DES partners are aware that involving male and female personnel contributes to an in‐depth understanding of men and women’s needs, behaviours and attitudes, increasing the scientific quality and societal relevance of the produced knowledge, subsequent technologies and innovations, as well as the production of goods and services better suited to
potential markets.

Reduced inequality – social innovation focuses on policies and practices for the smart distribution of tourists and visitors in unconventional and well-known cultural destinations, such as the underwater environment. Thanks to ARCHIM3DES, new tourists will
have the opportunity to know and virtually visit the underwater heritage improving cultural values, osmosis and knowledge transfer.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation – the technical and
technological improvements supported by ARCHIM3DES will improve industrial sustainability through a smart and more efficient
workflow for data acquisition and processing. Surely, the project will permit multitemporal quantitative evaluation of archaeological assets for improving their resilience in submerged environments.
Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development – the planned activities
look forward to developing key tools for documenting and managing underwater archaeological and cultural assets, supporting the
conservation and restoration of shipwrecks and sites. The effort of the dissemination aspects focuses on policies and practices for
smart distribution of tourists and visitors in unconventional and well-known underwater scenarios.
